Privacy policy
BlockAppStudy · Last updated: 22 September 2026
1. Who we are
BlockAppStudy (“the app”) is developed by Dmitry Parfenovich, Poland (“we”). Contact: parfendima84@gmail.com. This policy explains what data the app processes and why.
2. Data stored on your device
To work, the app stores the following on the phone only:
- child profiles: nickname, age, avatar, language;
- the list of blocked apps, the time limit and the required reading score;
- time spent in blocked apps, reading progress and statistics;
- books you add yourself (PDF, EPUB, DOCX, TXT);
- the parent password and the answer to the recovery question — stored only in hashed or encrypted form.
This data is not sent to us or to third parties.
3. Microphone and speech recognition
The microphone is used only on the reading screen after the child taps the microphone button. The sound is passed to the speech recognition service installed on the phone (usually Google). Depending on the phone, recognition happens on the device or on the servers of that service, under its own privacy policy.
The app receives only the recognised text, compares it with the passage and discards it. Audio recordings and recognised text are not saved.
4. Accessibility service
The app uses the Android Accessibility service (AccessibilityService API) as a parental control tool, only after the parent turns it on. The service:
- checks which app is open, to block the apps selected by the parent when the limit runs out;
- shows the reading screen over a blocked app;
- reads the text of system Settings screens only to recognise an attempt to turn off protection or uninstall the app, and asks for the parent password.
The service does not read messages, passwords or the content of other apps, and it stores or transmits nothing.
5. What we do not do
- no user accounts or registration;
- no advertising and no advertising identifiers;
- no analytics, tracking or crash reporting services;
- no selling or sharing of data.
6. Backup
If Android backup is turned on in your Google account, the system may include profiles and reading progress in the backup. The parent password is not included. You manage backup in the phone settings.
7. Children
The app is installed and configured by a parent to manage a child's phone. We do not collect personal information from children. All data remains on the device under the parent's control.
8. Storage and deletion
Data is kept until you delete it: profiles can be removed in the app, and all data is deleted when you clear the app's data or uninstall it (Settings → Uninstall in the app, parent password required).
9. Your rights
Because we do not receive or store your data, we cannot access, correct or delete it — it is fully under your control on the device. If you have any questions about privacy, write to parfendima84@gmail.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.
10. Changes to this policy
If the policy changes, we will publish the new version on this page and update the date above.
